Ethics Statement

1. Bavarian Brainrot is a satirical publication.

Every article on this site is a work of comedic fiction. The reporters listed on our masthead do not exist. The humans we quote within stories do not exist. The events we report did not occur. Where we link to real public documents under “Source Documents,” those documents are real; what we say about them is invented for comedic effect.

If anything you read on this site appears to be a factual claim about a real living person or organization — it is not. It is parody. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects this work, and we publish under that protection.

2. We do not invent quotes attributed to real living named individuals.

Quotation marks within Bavarian Brainrot articles only ever attach to fictional characters — Bavarian Brainrot reporters, our recurring fictional sources, or anonymous “industry observers.” We never put words in the mouth of a real living person.

3. We link real source documents wherever possible.

Articles that touch on a real entity (the City of Helen, the White County Board of Commissioners, the U.S. Forest Service, a named local business that has published its own materials publicly) include a Source Document box near the top of the body, linking to the relevant public-record URL. The reader is invited to consult these documents and to draw their own conclusions about how they intersect with what our satirical reporters write about them.

4. We do not punch down.

Our editorial license does not extend to humor at the expense of protected classes, named local minorities, real victims of trauma, or anyone for whom the comedic frame would constitute harassment rather than parody. The Editorial Page Editor (Edmund Crowe) reviews every piece for this before publication.

5. We correct mistakes.

We publish corrections at /corrections/. Every correction we issue is, naturally, also satirical. Real concerns about real-world references in our writing should be addressed to [email protected] and will receive a real, non-satirical response.

6. Confidential tips.

We do not, in fact, have a tip line. If you have a story about Helen or White County that you believe deserves real journalistic attention, we recommend the Now Habersham, the Toccoa Record, the White County News, the Dahlonega Nugget, or the Rabun County Banner. Each is a working regional newsroom that does the real work of covering the actual events that this publication parodies. Their archives are linked from our masthead pages.

7. Ownership.

Bavarian Brainrot is published by Bavarian Brainrot Media. The publication is locally owned and operated. It has no advertisers and no third-party investors. Premium subscriptions are sold via Stripe. The newsletter is operated via Brevo. The site is hosted on a commercial VPS behind a Cloudflare proxy. We do not run third-party trackers; our analytics are first-party and stored in our own database.

This Ethics Statement is itself written in earnest. The rest of the site, with the exception of corrections-policy text and subscriber-billing communications, is satire.
