Notes
- The 5:00 p.m. “Sweet Home Alabama” entry was added by City Council ordinance in May 2008, in response to a citizen petition that had collected 412 signatures. The ordinance has not, in the period since, been reconsidered.
- The chime mechanism’s sound-pressure output, measured at the Bruckenstrasse property line, is currently 78 dB(A). The June 2025 amended noise-ordinance variance reduces the ceiling to 66 dB(A); the Welcome Center has not yet modified the mechanism to comply. Bavarian Brainrot’s coverage of the variance is here.
- The “In München Steht Ein Hofbräuhaus” 11:00 a.m. selection has, on three documented occasions in the past decade, been silently substituted for an instrumental version of “Wonderwall” — reportedly by an unauthorized third-party access of the chime control system. Helen PD has, in each case, opened and subsequently closed an investigation.
- The Glockenspiel does not chime overnight. The mechanism is mechanically shut off, by the Welcome Center maintenance schedule, at 9:14 p.m. and reactivated at 8:46 a.m.
